STAY CLASSIC: VEGAS HISTORY
The Mint Hotel and Casino was opened in 1957. Milton Prell, who owned the Sahara and the Aladdin, was also one of the original owners, and according to Vegas legend it was his wife who came up with the name! In 1961, ownership was taken by Del Webb, who had already accumulated some of Prell's other properties. It was probably made the most famous by being the first stop in Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and was also featured in the James Bond film Diamonds are Forever. In 1988, it was sold and became part of Binion's Hotel and Casino.
